The water is very warm in the summer. Although Big Lake is large in size, it is relatively shallow on average, allowing for the warm water. Fishing on Big Lake brings anglers from all over as it boasts some of the best bass fishing around. The lake has one bass fishing tournament each year. Other species of fish include white perch, pickerel, touge, brown trout and landlocked Atlantic salmon. The landlocked Atlantic salmon is a real treat to catch, whether it’s fly-fishing in the early spring or ice fishing in the winter months.
