Pine Island Maine
Pine Island Maine, MaineIf you are a lover of nature, a fisher-person, or if you need a place to get away from it all, to write, to paint or just to contemplate your navel, then look no further. Pine Island is a very private 12-acre island located in the middle of Meddybemps Lake, in the township of Alexander. The island has been owned by the current owners for 30 years, and their hope is that the new owner of Pine Island will be someone who loves to fish, loves clean air and clean water and the beauty and silence of a sunset. Meddybemps Lake Meddybemps Lake is located 2 hours east of Bangor and 15 miles from Calais, Maine and the Canadian border. The lake is 7 miles long and four miles wide, and averages 35 to 40 feet deep. There are two holesť that are over 100 feet deep. The lake is teeming with smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, landlocked and stocked trout, and huge white perch. 150 to 200 bass can easily be caught each week. The lake is very clean and has no algae or grass problems, and it is stocked yearly with trout. Ice out is usually in April, and the best months to fish are in June and August. The lake is so far east in the state of Maine that it has never been affected by the acid rain so prevalent in many Maine lakes. Pine Island The island's tree population is mostly pine and white birch with scattered wild blueberry bushes. The two bedroom cabin has a porch that faces west and catches one beautiful sunset after another. A rustic trail reaches from one end of the island to the other to the other. The island is about 15 minutes by boat from a very nice floating town dock with parking in the town of Meddybemps. Shopping for food including Walmart and McDonalds are 20 miles away. Essentials are located nearby, including the world famous Maine lobster. Although there are other residents on the lake, no other homes are visible from Pine Island. There is no ambient light there so the stargazing is incredible. Also included:
