This heavily forested, large private island is located in the spectacular Broughton Archipelago, between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland. More specifically, the island is situated in Indian Channel, 25 miles (40 km) south east of the village of Alert Bay, and 20 miles (32 km) north east of the village of Telegraph Cove.

From Alder island, the historic village of Mamalilicula can be seen. The Broughton Archipelago is known for its incredible natural beauty - beautifully forested islands rising out of the ocean, with the mainland mountains towering high above.
