Eilean Aigas

This castle, located on a large private island estate situated in the middle of the River Beauly (known for its salmon fishing) about 11 miles (17.7 km) west of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, is offered for sale for the first time in over 600 years.

The island is connected by bridge to the opposite bank of the Beauly River, and is surrounded by farmland and woods, with the mountains in the distance. Eilean Aigas itself is nicely wooded with Silver Birch, Douglas Fir, Spruce and Pine. The south end of the island slopes down to the water's edge, while off the northern tip is a spectacular gorge. A path network allows easy access to the different parts of the island, as well as affording varied views of the natural setting. The principal feature of Eilean Aigas is its 12-bedroom, 6-bathroom home, built in 1838, and situated on the northern part of the island. Other features include a heated outdoor swimming pool, small formal gardens, and a wine cellar.
