AuTrain Island

AuTrain Island is a rare gem on the sparkling blue waters of Lake Superior. It’s attraction draws from a variety of offerings including natural beauty, location, and availability.

The island has natural beauty in abundance. The forest is old growth northern hardwoods and hemlock and offers a variety of habitats including a blue heron rookery, and frequent sightings of Bald Eagles, often more than one at a time. Some of the large trees are over 10 feet in circumference. Also included in the island’s foliage is the lady’s slipper flower and ground cover believed to be Canadian yew. The dramatic Lake Superior frontage offers rocky beach shorelines, towering cliffs, scenic vistas and sandstone caves nestled into the woods.

AuTrain Island is located on Lake Superior in the central part of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. With an increasing demand for Lake Superior frontage, the island is situated in a truly “superior” location. The closest point of mainland is about 1 mile from the island and the nearest public boat dock is approximately 2 1/2 miles via boat. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Munising, Grand Island National Recreation Area and the City of Marquette are all less than 30 miles from the island. Both Munising and Marquette have full service harbors. Included with the purchase of the island is a mainland access site. It includes 175' feet of beach frontage in Shelter Bay, cabins, garages, and a residential tower over 50 feet tall with incredible views over the lake.
