Big Island

Located on Loughborough Lake in Battersea Ontario, Big Island is just 20 minutes north of Kingston, Ontario and only 2.5 hours from Syracuse, New York. At a spectacular 31 acres in size, Big Island is the largest island in the lake and one of the largest privately owned islands in Eastern Ontario. Please note that the island is not currently up for auction as stated in the below video, but offered for sale at CAD $1379000.

The island features 1.25 miles of shoreline, which ranges from grassy slopes to rocky cliffs. The interior of the island is highlighted by natural walking trails that lead to various locations on the island, such as Sunrise Point, and the rocky outcropping known as Picnic Rock.

It goes without saying that Big Island is essentially its own nature preserve. The lucky owner of the island will have the pleasure of sharing their property with deer, beaver, fox, owls, eagles, turtles, loons and woodpeckers, many of which are best observed while paddling around the island's northeast corner.

The living accommodations are located on the southern end of Big Island. This area consists of a main house, guesthouse, boathouse, covered docks and two outdoor stone barbeque fireplaces. The ‘compound’ also features a large cedar tent platform that can accommodate a 6-person canvas tent.

The main house comes complete with two bedrooms, one master and one with two twin beds. The house also features one full and one half bathrooms. The main living room features an eating area, sleeping sofa, and impressive stone fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped, coming complete with electric stove, refrigerator, and microwave. The island also features satellite TV, Internet access, phone service, and an outdoor shower. The guesthouse features two twin beds, a comfortable sofa and full bath with shower.

The boathouse, which is protected by the island's natural cove can comfortably accommodate one boat. In addition, the docks, one of which is covered can accommodate up to five additional boats.
