Location Roxas, Palawan

Roxas is around 135 km from Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. It is between Puerto Princesa and Port Barton San Vicente, towns known for their attractive beaches and colourful sunsets.

Roxas is a gateway to a group of fantastic islands waiting to be discovered. Development is quite slow in this town and so islands here remain unspoilt.

Compared with other areas in Palawan, already known by tourists and travellers, Roxas is not yet marked on the map as a tourist destination. But for those who have set foot in this town, they will not deny that it’s a paradise about to be unveiled.

The town is primarily known for its large plantation area for coconuts, rattan, wood, abaca rice and corn. What sets this town apart from its neighbouring towns (Port Barton, San Vicente and Taytay) is its fully constructed concrete road from the city of Puerto Prncesa.

Buses and jeepneys are available from Puerto Princesa to Roxas (van P170, jeepney P126 or bus P160). Travel time is approximately two hours. From Roxas, buses and jeepneys depart from the town’s large bus terminal between 5am-4pm. There is also a jeepney scheduled once a day (P80, 1-2 hours) going to Port Barton, San Vicente.

Rainy season here is from June to November and dry season is from December to May. The driest month is March while the rainiest month is August.

The Island

Not far from the lovely resort of Coco Loco Island, Cupid Island is where a pure white sand beach stretches into the ocean.

Cupid’s Island is approximately 20 minutes by boat from the main town of Roxas and just about 5-10 minutes from Coco Loco Island. Boats are readily available in the area. Since the boat routes are mostly to Coco Loco Resort, you have to rent a boat for a minimal fee to Cupid’s Island.

Unlike any other islands in Palawan (mostly elevated), Cupid’s Island is flat. Resort developers in other countries imports tons of sand to be able to make a wide beach area just to add attraction to their island resorts. On Cupid’s Island, white sand beach abounds. What it needs are coconut trees (which is actually not a problem since there’s plenty to get from the town). Any creative islander can transform this piece of paradise into a perfect tropical island dream.

Since Cupid’s Island is close to a developed resort and close to the mainland, mobile and internet connections, solar or electric power and water is definitely possible on the island. Currently, the nearby resort, Coco Loco, is the only resort in the area enjoying the full benefits of non-competition.

This island is best for a spa resort development or a private tropical getaway. The flat area of the island can be transformed into a spa resort like in Kuda Huraa, in North Male Atoll in Maldives. With just a few coconuts planted on this island and a number of small palm-thatched bungalows or water bungalows dipping its feet on the island’s turquoise waters would definitely turn this flat island into a first class resort destination. You can then freely imagine yourself windsurfing along the island’s clear blue waters or simply enjoying life’s greatest pleasures: sunrise, sunset, ocean and sky.

If it's intimacy with nature you are seeking in an unpolluted environment or simply experiencing isolation with nothing but the beach and clear blue waters as your sole companion, Cupid’s Island is waiting for you to make it your ultimate paradise on water.
