The Island has several miles of interior roads. The road starts at the harbour and winds up to the highest point on the island and branches off to other parts of the island.

Located half way up the road is a small chapel that was built over 200 years ago in honor of Saint Martin, the Bishop of Tours. In the middle ages, he escaped from religious persecution and hid on the island for more than 3 years. At that time, Benedictan monks were living on the island.

The first floor of the Villa (old monastary) has an entrance hall, huge living room with vaulted ceiling and big window-doors leading to the tiled terrage with swimming pool. There are 2 kitchens and several storage rooms, and a dining room. There are 5 bedrooms and 5 baths on the second floor. The Villa is surrounded by a courtyard with a big walled garden. There is also a guest house, which is partially restored with some work still to be done. It has two 3-room apartments, and four 2-room apartments, for a total of six guest and/or staff apartments. In World War II, the Germans occupied the island and there is still a most interesting underground tunnel system to be seen.

On the south side of the island there is a very old (10 centuries) Roman watch tower that is in very good condition. It could be restored and used as a small apartment with a 360 degree view. Of course, you have a great view from every part of the island.
