Juniper Island is a 7 acre private island nestled amongst the Canadian Thousand Islands in the waters of the St. Lawrence River, ten minutes by boat from the quaint town of Gananoque, Ontario.

History

William D. Sargent, a wealthy business man, purchased Juniper from the Ministry of Indian Affairs in 1918 after visiting friends on a neighbouring island and falling in love with the river.

Sargent built 6 cabins on Juniper, creating a family compound that could comfortably accommodate up to 18 people. These cabins include a main gathering cabin, four sleeping cabins and a boathouse. Having separate sleeping cabins allows for privacy and a quiet escape for large groups of people.

Sargent's love for Juniper has been passed down for five generations and touches all who step foot on Juniper.

About the Cabins

The Main Cabin is the largest and most central meeting place on Juniper. It is traditionally where most of the meals are served and social hours are shared. The main cabin contains no beds.

The Point Cabin sits on a knoll overlooking the Fourty Acres, which is a large expanse of open water. This is a wonderful spot to sit and watch the drama of an approaching storm across the water. Listening to the water lapping at the rocks makes for restful sleep in either its king sized bed or one of its 2 twin beds.

The Guest Cabin sits on a special spot near the dock on the island. The guest cabin contains 4 twin beds.

Located near the main cabin, the Patty Cabin with its 5 beds makes it perfect for families with small children.

The Buddy Cabin is quietly tucked away under the trees where one is woken by the birds in the morning. The Buddy Cabin consists of 1 queen and 2 twin beds.
