Lagoon Caye has to be one of the most unique islands we've ever walked on. The huge ring shape of the island offers more than 7,000 feet of Caribbean Sea frontage and 5,000 feet of interior lagoon frontage.
Imagine the possibilities with that kind of water frontage! The lagoon is 25 acres and more than 30 feet deep. The entry into the lagoon is roughly 6 feet deep so it will accommodate most larger boats without modification.
The island has a naturally high ridge along the western shore line but will need filling from mainland sand over much of the rest of the island. As you can see by the pictures, the coral life around the island is incredible. The island is located in the lagoon range just south of the Cat Cayes area.
It's one of the closest islands to the mainland at only 7 miles east of Riversdale. Access is best from Sittee River which is 12 miles to the north, or Placencia at 13 miles to the southwest. This island offers some of the best anchorage in the country with an easy lagoon entrance.
