The Berry Islands

The Berry Islands are a cluster of 30 islands and almost 100 cays. They owe their name to the abundance of thatch berry trees found in the area. The area is well loved by sailors, yachtsmen and fishermen.

The Berry Islands are located within an area of about 12 square miles, sitting on the eastern edge of the Great Bahama Bank. The islands are one hour from Miami by private plane (150 miles east) and 20 minutes by air northeast of Nassau.

Many of the Berry Islands are uninhabited (the total population is about 750 people). The islands have a reputation for seclusion and privacy. The area offers spectacular diving and championship sports fishing. A good number of the cays in the area are privately owned. There are more millionaires in the Berry Islands per square mile than most places on earth.
