Minnitaki Lake Island

It just doesn't get any more Canadian than this... This beautiful 2-acre (0.81 ha) private island is situated on the waters of Minnitaki Lake, a 45,000 acre (18,210 ha) lake renowned for its excellent fishing and abundant wildlife.

Lying just south of the town of Sioux Lookout, the lake is a prime example of the unspoiled wilderness Northern Ontario is known for. Walleye, smallmouth bass, lake trout, and muskellonge are among the plentiful species of fish you'll find here, along with abundant wildlife. Halfway between the cities of Thunder Bay (370 km/230 miles to the east) and Winnipeg (435 km/270 miles to the west), Minnitaki Lake is easily accessible by car or air.

The island itself is well-treed in white pine, cedar and birch, and contains two hand-crafted, winterized log cabins on opposite ends of the island, as well as a wood-fired log sauna. Each cabin has 2 bedrooms and a sleeping loft (the larger cabin sleeps 8 comfortably, the smaller sleeps 6). The cabins come fully furnished and are heated by wood fireplaces. Solar panels on each cabin supply lighting as well as power to the indoor toilets, propane fridge and stove. The wood-fired sauna has been built of red pine logs infilled with white pine boards, and heats up quickly for bathing and relaxation.
