Virgin Sanctuary Island

Location: Northern Palawan

Size: 7.7 hectares

Beachfrontage: 1,000 metres app. 360 degree white sand beach.

Sand quality: First grade - sand is soft and white and as good as Boracay.

Swimming: The best; at the eastern side of the island the sand slopes off with nice sandy bottom. At the western end of the island is a beautiful house reef.

Water: None, but with rainwater catchment and barged water from the mainland, a resort is highly feasible.

Road access: app 1.5 hours from the airport. Then 15 mins by boat.

Boat access: 15 mins (8kms) from town. Good anchorage in the channel.

Shelter: Sheltered from the Amihan SW wind (9 months) semi-sheltered in Habagat (5 weeks December/January)

Utilities: nil

Elevation: None, this island most resembles a Caribbean Caye.

Land: Some vegetation, but no palm trees. Ideal for construction. No clearing required.

Views: Overlooks the surrounding islands, very pretty view.

Sunset: ideal, the 360 degree beach means that you have nice sunrise & sunset (very rare) with the islands of the bay in front and the South China Sea in the distance. Sunsets here are quite spectacular.

Privacy: Your own island kingdom. Doesn’t get any more private than this private island.

Description: With its 1000 meters of pure white sand, fringing reef and abundant wildlife – fish, birds etc., this island is a nature lover’s paradise. Sea Cows (Dugongs) and turtles are found in the surrounding waters and turtles nest on the islands beaches. The island has a thick forest of diptercarps and fruit trees and although it lacks palm trees, they would grow easily. Mature palms can easily be relocated to the island at quite minimal expense from the mainland.

The two neighbouring islands are both operating as resorts. This island is widely regarded as the most attractive in Busuanga.
