Kenora The Lake of the Woods has on its Canadian border only one town. This is Kenora. Winnipeg (600,000 inh.) to Kenora (15,000 inh.) is 2 hours driving.

In former times gold attractied people to Kenora, nowadays it is the "Muskie"- main city for huntsmen and fishermen.

Due to the continental climate - dry, warm or even hot summer and dry, cold winter with only short periods between - a temperature of up to 86 °F is not rare. The flow of the water into and off the Lake of the Woods is regulated by a hydroelectic-power-station, so floods are avoided. There are also no seismological activities in that region.

Sunsuri Island An undiscovered hideaway Sunsuri Island is situated in the Lake of the Woods and borders to the Pipestone Provincial Park (environmetally protected park, absolutely forbidden to settle down or build there with one excepticion: SUNSURI Island).

You may get to Sunsuri Island from the city of Kenora in less than 20 minutes. A most extraordinary northern portion of an otherwise Crown owned island mandated to not be sold or developed by the government of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Gazebo (Boat-house, Sauna) The boat-house with eight corners has full isolation. Underneath the roof there is another room with the possibility to life and sleep in and you get a sensational glimpse to the untouched canadian wilderness. Underneath there is a sauna for 6 people. You can get there via a bridge of 38.5 yards, 16 feet wide. The construction for this small bridge consists out of pressure treated waterproofed wood. You walk on solid cedar-wood. This is really to have a party on it or just to burn in the sun.

Next to it there is a self-made sand-beach. 6,000 tons of fine sand brought in.

The side-building, a fully isolated hut next to the chalet, offers the opportunity to stash away tools and stuff.

On an elevation between the gazebo and chalet, you find a small generator's hut. Produce your own electricity by solar-cells or with propane-driven generators.

Truly one of the most beautiful settings of entire Lake of the Woods. Nature pure! The water of this lake is drinking water, full of fish. A wonderful cottage with motoryacht Bayliner Trophy 2855, 300 hp-Volvo-motor with dualprop a car Honda Van Modell Odysse (y. 2002). Your own dock for your boat when you are in the city, of course next to the shopping mall and a separated guarded parking which is hired.

A "Handyman" ( a retired person) is available on request, ready to do your work whilst you are away.
