The Crab Pot comes fully appointed, boasting satellite phone and internet access, separate laundry, cargo barge and mail aircraft service to the island, a 650-meter airstrip for charter plane access from Cairns or Horn Island, and a 5-kilowatt generator with an array of solar panels to power the house. Plentiful fresh water is readily available, supplied by a series of dams and tanks.

Hicks Island is a natural haven for plant, bird and animal life amid coconut plantations, a small beach and an orchard, with only four homes built on an island permitting a maximum of seven. Track clearings around the island allow ease of movement by truck, bike or all-terrain vehicle.
