Hey all, I created a new poll, check it out!

if you have a specific number in mind, just add it to the forum.

I think it would be interesting to know what other people think of as an ideal popultion for their hypothetical island nation.

Hrmm... how many forum members do we have? Smile

I'm not sure I'd want to start my own country. I wouldn't mind owning an island and inviting people to occupy it with me, or share it with an indigenous tribe. I guess it all depends on the size of the island as well.

Sorry! No answers from me, just more questions!

I agree with Tel (well mostly) I would prefer not start a country, or share my islands with tons of people. Buy hypothetically I would share my island with between 1 and 99 people. Any more than that it would probably get dangerous.

I would prefer not to start a country, but if I had to I would like it to have many people from diverse backgrounds. I would ideally think 600 would be nice. In my opinion it would still have a community feel and at the same time you would have a larger labour force.

then again, i know nothing about running a country,

Sam

I agree with Sampson and Renee

I would prefer a country of 1 however, if I had to choose I would agree with Sampson that over 500 would be cool,

all the best B

haha I like the idea of visitor visas..its perfect. If you dont want your mother in law to visit just make sure that she has trouble getting her VISA. On the other hand you can send out honorary Visas to supermodels.

peacepunk, that is too funny. But I do like the idea of visitor visa's. I think the distribution of votes is interesting. The responses fall into only two categories! I am not surprised that the majority people are voting between 0 and 99 although I am guessing people who voted for that option are leaning more towards the 1-2 range of the scale.

That's cute. Your mother in law calls the Ministry of Visitor Visas (you) and gets told that they've had some trouble processing her application. She appears to be on some kind of blacklist, you try to explain. Perhaps she should reconsider what constitutes a good xmas gift and what doesn't. You suggest that large cash donations to the ruling party might help speed through her application.

1) They can both be a serious pain in the ass

Please... everyone else take a shot at this!

Hi Ira,

I'll probably never have the money to own one; but it is nice to dream. I do spend a lot of time in Hawaii, since I used to be a cardio instructor there and have made a lot of friends.

Here is another:

They are both very hard to get to!
