| Just a few days ago, this guy named Stuart Hill declared his small 1hA (2.5 acre) island called Forvik independant from UK and says he left the EU and wants to become a crown dependancy recognising the Queen as head of state. He says that Shetland, where his island is, is really a crown dependancy and not actually part of UK because of a marrige agreement between Norway and UK and pawn documents and little-known acts of Parliament. Here's his website http://www.shetlandconversation.co.uk |

Hey Stevv
Thank-you for this post, I actually posted an article about this on my blog. I was wondering have you heard anything new about this. Has his claim been ignored or is the British Government taking it seriously? _________________ http://privateislandsblog.com |

Well, don't imagine this fellow's claims will go too far, but it's not quite as silly as declaring independence in other parts of the world. Many of the peripheral British Isles are semi-independent and offer tax havens and that sort of thing, and this island is also in the neighborhood of Faroe, a (technically) Danish possession that functions autonomously.

| There does not seem to be too much new information on Forvik... that probably means the governments don't really care too much. |

| The governments probably don't care because the guy sounds like he's spent a little tooo much time alone. For some reason I imagine him with a big beard and a volley ball friend named "wilson" |

Haha, an update on Mr. Hill... also known as "King Calamity" due to a failed sailing record attempt.
