Anyway I thought I would add a "fun" futurama link, its also in an Inconvenient truth"

Along those lines, there was a very funny spoof on the Daily Show, entitled "Apocolypse Now?" I'm not posting a link, but anyone interested can find it at the Daily Show web site, in the video section.

If you have an hour and thirteen minutes to spare, here's an interesting counter to Al Gore's film.

Greetings Everyone,

I have just returned from travelling through the Marshall Islands, and I must say that the seriousness of climate change is quite apparent amongst the locals. Complete islands will be under water within the next 10 years and the fear is strong. What needs to happen in America before we begin to make this our problem, because it is. Perhaps california needs to dissappear before things change.

Hi Mr Bojangles

Thanks for your update on the Marshall Islands, I currently have a friend who is living and working there. You are very right that the Marshall Islands are in serious danger of being lost for ever. The highest point out of all islands is 10m above sea level, however, most of the land is much lower than that. It is a very real reality that these islands will be lost within the coming years. It's disturbing that people sit back and accept this reality, or find an excuse to deny it. The fact of the matter is is that an entire nation, the homes of countless generations of a culture is/are going to literally be removed from the face of the planet and we seemingly could care a less.

what are we going to do people?
I agree with both peace punk and mr bojangles
this is an epidemic that effects everyone not just those of small island nations.
where are these people going to go? something should be done.

I listened to radio interview this morning with a professor who said that if we continue on the path we are currently (thats sitting on the fence squandering what little resources we have left and depleting the atmosphere) we have about 30-50 years before we start to see social economic collapse, and in turn 40-60 years before the weather goes haywire and the earth tilts into the next age.

lookin forward to a wild ride eh Laughing

Hi gang. Long time no post!

Lately I've been reading The Deniers by Lawrence Solomon. If you're open to the "other side" it might be a good read.

The print version is recommended; don't buy the Kindle version, its pages are out of order.

Meanwhile, the ocean is as high as it gets and as low as it wants. Looks the same today as it has for years. Cool

Why do you think that they are calling golbal warming climate change now instead of just saying global warming? Why are they being so vauge? I think the real reason is ,that is no global warming, so they are starting to make the switch.

Well it's not exactly warming up every part of the world. Yes, the poles are getting warmer, but places like Colorado seem to be having colder and snowier winters (lucky they get out of school  ). Therefore, it can be said that whatever is happening isn't "global" warming: Just the average global temperature is rising.

Waterfrontguy. If someone tells a lie but he tells it very skillfully, why would you disrespect someone who questions that lie? Let me ask you something you live in Morehead City (nice place). How much have you seen the ocean level rise during your lifetime? I don't know how old your are, but I live in Virginia Beach and I have not seen the water level rise in Lynnhaven Inlet in the past 50 years. The highest tide that I have ever seen was in 1961 (Ash Wednesday). Have a nice day. Think for your self. Question everything. Don't just automaticly buy the leftist line.

I know it is global warming that causes this change of level of water. I think because of too much pollution that causes the heat on earth to stay here thats why we have global warming that causes the tide to be too high and too low
