Overboard dog comes home after 4 months on island

SYDNEY (AP) — A pet dog swept off a sailboat in choppy seas off Australia was found alive four months later on a remote island — and returned to her family, who'd thought she was dead.

The dog had been spotted by several people on both St. Bees and nearby Keswick Island, leading Griffith to believe she swam back and forth between the two, which are separated by a narrow channel.

Sophie appeared to have survived by eating goats, as rangers found several baby goat carcasses around the island, Griffith said. This week, the plucky pup was back to her usual diet of ground meat and dog biscuits.

What a story! Did you read that the dog was found 6 miles from where he was washed overboard?

Since you and Mr. Morgan are both terrific people and valuable contributors to this forum, and given that I have too few useful comments, what say we send me to the dog's islands? I'd love the adventure! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hello Rod,
if you would like an island adventure like that, i would be more than happy to give you a trip, if i could. But i would insist that no firearms be allowed on the island. But would give you a fishing spear, buck knives, and survival rations for a month, along with iodine tablets to convert the water there for drinking ! But there would be no electronics, which includes a radio or cellphone, but will give you a good book on weather, so you can learn under the gentle lessons of mother nature, how to begin to predict the weather. And lastly, you would have to be alone, but that would only heighten the adventure after two months or so !

Thor

Greetings Dearest Islanders

It's been a long, anxious while since the notion of occupying the sweet solitude of an island getaway has been in my thoughts, for the past six months, I have been regaled to the state hospital for delusional lunatics prone to flowery tangents that are entirely disconnected with the banal realities I face in the real world.

Whilst having my little 'rest', the chief court-appointed therapist insisted that I no longer indulge in childish flights of fancy, instead choosing to focus on improving my thus abysmal failure of a real life, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do that, so here I am cobbling up yet another fantasia that bears absolutely no relevance to the miserable daily grind I endure on a daily basis!

While I myself don't own an island property (and given the general prospects of my life, most likely won't ever- barring a lotto strike) I sure do enjoy coming on forums like this and proffering my hilariously bad attempts at prose, structured in their bizarre-and-not-charming way that's so unique to me... for at least within the confines of my own mind, the things I say have meaning and even if they don't, at the very minimum no one will be confused as to the day I wrote them, given that they are not only dated automatically by the forum software, but I take the time to manually date them all in advance for reasons that even I can't figure out.
