This Island is a unique parcel of land which is cradled on three sides by the shores of Prince Edward Island and on the fourth by the Province of Nova Scotia. When sailing towards Governors Island, you can not help but notice its rustic beauty such as the long sand bar extending from its eastern tip. The Island's spruce trees, its open green fields, warm waters and its peace and quiet welcomes you to its sandy shore. When you step from your boat you will be amazed how warm its waters are and the feel of the soft sand beneath your feet. You will also be pleasantly surprised to see an ample supply of clams and oysters. As you walk the Island you will have the opportunity to enjoy the many various types of birds, such as Bald Eagles, or watch the seals playing in the Island waters as a fishing or pleasure boat peacefully sails by. You will also notice the owner had an area cleared, levelled and grassed extending down the centre of the island. This area has a length of 3200 feet, a 150 foot width which was cleared for the purpose of a landing strip for a small plane or helicopter. This open area has created a park like setting where you can easily walk and view the wonderful beauty of this Island. This Western point of Governors Island was used many years ago as a busy lobster plant and the remainder of the land was used as an area to graze sheep and cattle. Yes, this is nature at its best and yes, this can be yours. Governors Island is located minutes from the main shores of Prince Edward Island which is known as one of the most beautiful tourist and golfing destinations in Canada. A 10 minute sail (3 miles) will take you to the mainland of Prince Edward Island or a 20 minute sail will take you to Charlottetown the beautiful Capital City of Prince Edward Island. You are close to many wonderful golf courses, restaurants, tourist attractions, Provincial Parks, as well as the Charlottetown Airport. This Island can be used as a private retreat with a main dwelling but cannot be subdivided into smaller lots of land. |
