About Clove Cay

Clove Cay is a pristine 145-acre island in the prestigious southern Exuma Cays featuring over two miles of oceanfront, not including a 1,400’ peninsula. Located less than two miles northwest of Great Exuma, Clove Cay offers the seclusion and exclusivity of a private island combined with convenient access to and from the main island.

Owners of neighboring islands include numerous celebrities and high-profile business moguls. Clove Cay is part of a sub-chain of 12 islands at the southern end of the Exuma Cays called the “Brigantine Chain” that extend 10 miles to the northwest of Great Exuma. Of the 12 islands, Clove Cay is the only one that has clear title and may be privately-owned. All of the other islands are “Crown Land” meaning they are government-owned and cannot be developed. The Brigantine chain is known for extremely calm water because Great Exuma and the
other islands to the east provide natural protection from large ocean waves. Three benefits of this calm water include:

1. No need to build ocean breaks to protect boats docked at Clove Cay
2. Calm water is much more inviting for beach goers
3. Potential direct access to and from the island via seaplanes

The value of Clove Cay is not only due to the privacy and pristine beauty it offers but also its close proximity to the international airport and amenities on Great Exuma. While several islands located further north in the Exuma Cays may offer similar beauty and privacy, these islands are at a disadvantage from a development standpoint because arguably they are too private - i.e. there is no other “civilization” nearby and therefore access is challenging and visitors may soon get bored.

Great Exuma Overview

Currently, the major resort on Great Exuma is the 470-acre Emerald Bay Four Seasons (www.emeraldbayresort.com). From Clove Cay, Emerald Bay is a 6-mile boat ride followed by an 8 mile drive. Completed and opened in late 2003, Emerald Bay features a Four Seasons Hotel, a Greg Norman-designed championship golf course, and a deep water marina. In addition to Emerald Bay, several other high-end developments are currently under way on Great Exuma. The most significant project is Crab Cay (www.crabcay.com), an $800 million development on a 180-acre island next to Exuma’s capital of Georgetown which is planned to be anchored by a Sedona Spa & Resort—one of the top luxury spa brands in the world—and feature a deep water marina accommodating up to 300’ mega-yachts, and an extremely high-end retail promenade stretching over ½ mile.
