Middelgrundsfortet is the largest artificial island, not connected to land, in the world. This extremely rare offering features unique natural beauty and birdlife and well-preserved fortifications. Most importantly, it is a cultural gem that should be cherished and enjoyed.

The island, located only 15 minutes off the coast of the Danish capital, is approximately 70.000 m2 with a built up area of approximately 15.000 m2.

Middelgrundsfortet has been in private hands over the last 8 years, and in this period the fort has undergone impressive restoration, specifically of coastal protection and refurbishment of the property.

The fortress is protected as a heritage site because of the great cultural and historical value as a preserved piece of coastal defense. Not only is Middelgrundsfortet a cultural gem, but also a unique and complex property. The fort includes a port well-equipped for both private and commercial marine purposes.

During recent years the fortress has primarily served as a hotel, seminar and conference venue. Many companies have made use of the fort's facilities, such as its well-equipped rooms and halls, a modern restaurant, nightclub, bar and billiard lounge, etc. The Hotel section includes 88 excellent beds in 24 rooms and a furnished commander's dwelling with living quarters in a beautiful maritime style.Additionally, the fact that the island is easily reachable by yacht or helicopter also makes it an unsurpassed residence for private individuals as well.

The fortress features a total of 200 rooms with 4km of hallways. 2.5 million tons of solid granite were used to create this masterpiece.

Middelgrundsfortet is accessible by boat, but the island also features a helipad approved and registered as aerodrome (EKMC).
