Maple Island, British Columbia

Part of the Queen Charlotte Islands, Maple Island is 1 mile (1.6 km) offshore from the government wharf in Queen Charlotte City. The island has a rocky shoreline and is heavily treed. An interesting feature of Maple Island is the presence of fossils. Boating and fishing enthusiasts are sure to enjoy the opportunities available here.

The Queen Charlotte Islands themselves are one of the most unique natural environments in Canada. An archipelago of virgin rainforests, sand dunes, great beaches, mountains and lakes, the Queen Charlottes are also home to many unique plant and animal species, as well as being the ancestral homeland of the Haida. To top it all off, it's also one of the best ocean kayaking sites in BC.
