Feature Island

Regional Information

Although it has an urban image to non-visitors, Michigan is actually fifty percent forest, much of it quite remote. Regardless of its inland topography, Michigan is bounded by four of the Great Lakes and has the longest freshwater shoreline in the continental United States. Michigan is a state of hunters and hosts more recreational boats than any other state in the union.
