Moraine CayMoraine Cay, BahamasMoraine Cay is truly one of the Crown Jewels of the Abacos, Bahamas, and is situated just 130 nautical miles from Palm Beach Florida, and about 9 miles offshore and NNE of Foxtown, Little Abaco. It is an attractive, secluded, 30 acre tropical island paradise, and one of the closest Abaco destinations to the U.S.. It can be readily accessed by vessel or from the government operated airport near Treasure Cay, Abaco, located about 30 miles to the east of Foxtown. Moraine Cay rises to elevations of 24' above mean sea level and boasts two extensive back-to-back crescent beaches, that face Southeast and Northwest. This exposure allows the villas to be more favorably drenched by predominating southeasterly ocean breezes in the summer, and always affords a calm beach exposure. There are extensive reefs to the immediate East and North of Moraine Cay, which can be accessed from within just a few feet of shore, and litter the ocean floor all the way out to an extensive barrier reef located roughly a mile and a half offshore. Moraine Cay Channel allows good access out to, and through this barrier reef for deeper ocean sport fishing, where monster grouper are caught, as well as yellow fin tuna, dolphin, wahoo, and other pelagic species. To the South and West of Moraine Cay there is deep water over the Little Bahama Bank all the way over to Foxtown. Within the immediate vicinity of Moraine Cay lobster and conch abound, as well as grouper, snapper and hog fish, to name just a few. Stone crabs are harvested just to the southwest of the Cay. Amenities include a dock, boulder breakwater, utility shed, and three separate villas in various stages of completion, with one being rented to vacationers over the last few years.
