The days leading up to the world's largest private island auction are exciting. On August 10, 2006, Sheldon Good & Company is holding the first auction of its kind. If you're interested in any of the islands up for auction, you still have time to preview. Islands in Belize, the US Virgin Islands, Papua New Guinea, and two in New York state are on the auction block. These islands are priced to sell; if you've ever had your eye on any of the islands being offered, now is the time to buy.
This month's featured islands include a new island in the Bahamas. Green Cay sits off Great Abaco Island and is well priced at under US $2M. Isla Bonita has been on our rental books for over a year now, but is now being offered for sale too. Your interest should definitely be piqued once you look at the island's sandy white beach (monkey's included). Also on the rental side of things, Taprobane Island in Sri Lanka is an interesting addition to our site. The island was formerly owned by the inveterate traveller and writer, Paul Bowles. He penned "The Spider's Web" on Taprobane. A little Googling will lead you to his essay about living on the island.
