Horse Island is a picturesque private holiday island managed by a German couple. The island lies in one of the most beautiful bays (Roaring Water Bay) near Ireland's southwest coast - not far from the scenic town of Schull (County Cork) - reachable by boat in 15 minutes. Although the island is in one of the coldest regions in Europe, it offers a mild and healthy climate all year round. It is surrounded by crystal-clear water heated by the Gulf Stream.

The famous lighthouse of the Fastnet Rocks is near (about 8 sea miles) Horse Island - the lighthouse is known as a turning-point in many international regattas. Horse Island is a superior recovery paradise without mass-tourism: pure nature, a crystal-clear sea, extremely clean air, bright swimming bays and silence, silence, and silence.

Three natural stone cottages are for rent on the island. These holiday homes are luxuriously furnished. Five star comfort on 147 square metres: luxurious beds, a double whirlpool with a champagne-cooler in the bedrooms, a sauna, wood and peat fireplaces and satellite T.V.

Visitors to Horse Island will find everything they need for island life and much more: white beaches and picturesque bays, fishing holes, a tennis court, barbeque pits, videos, a gym with sun beds, a massage waterfall, a helicopter landing pad and lots of peace and quiet.

Horse Island offers a variety of activities: torch lit dinners, bonfires on the beach, fish smoking facilities, figure and fitness training, professional kite flying, etc. You can also stay overnight in a pirate ship based on the island - from there you have a fantastic view of Fastnet Rock. Accommodations

Our guests stay in natural stone holiday homes that are stylishly designed. The spacious homes have two separate bedrooms with exquisite “dream-boat-beds” in the form of white fishing boats. The houses also have two bathrooms, a sauna, a double Jacuzzi with under-water lighting and champagne coolers in the bedrooms, a kitchen, a washing room, fireplaces, satellite TV and a video recorder. All of the houses have electric heating including underfloor heating.

A fully equipped kitchen offers every possibility for self-provision. You can order all sorts of groceries and they will be delivered to you fresh from the mainland. Enjoy a barbeque on the beach, collect fresh mussels from the northeast beach near low tide or smoke your own fish caught by you! There are a few perfect spots for an unforgettable picnic with a good bottle of wine.

Our house equipment includes a washing machine, drier, dishwasher, 2 refrigerators, a cooker with four flames and an oven, sauna, shower, open fire, whirlpool, 2 hair-driers, a toaster, coffee-machine and a blue-light beamer.

Although the island is in the northern region of Europe, it offers a mild and healthy climate all year round. Sand bays tempt you to bathe and the bizarre rock formations along the coast offer impressive views. You can find hundred year old celtic housing on the island.

Horse Island offers many leisure activities: bathing, fishing, sailing, fitness, tennis, billiard and golf on the mainland. Enjoy a free massage under the islands own natural waterfall that sprinkles out between the rocks. How about a romantic picnic on the beach or on ruins from back in the day? Perhaps a torch lit dinner on the beach on a clear night with juicy steaks and potatoes that are cooked on driftwood in sea water.
