Feature Island

Regional Information

Nestled in the heart of New England, most of the action in Rhode Island takes place on its 400 miles of winding coast. The state is nicknamed “Little Rhody”, but with all its coastline, the state officially adopted the nickname “The Ocean State”. Narragansett Bay is the centre of all island activity in Rhode Island. Narragansett Bay forms an expansive natural harbour as well as a small archipelago of about 30 islands. The bay's protected harbours and inlets provide a perfect refuge for all kinds of watersports like sailing, boating, fishing, kayaking, cruising, swimming and seal watching. Newport was historically home to some of America's richest families like the Astors and Vanderbilts. If you're passing through Newport on your way to or from your private island, be sure and visit the opulent oceanfront mansions that are still one of Newport's biggest tourist draws.
