Feature Island

Regional Information

Sri Lanka is more famous for its cinnamon and tea production than its private islands. This is a country of tea drinkers and many Sri Lankans drink at least two cups a day. A small island itself, Sri Lanka doesn't offer much in the way of rental islands, but south, in Welligama Bay, sits Taprobane Island. The country of Sri Lanka hosts some exotic creatures like elephants and leopards. The people are friendly, the food is delicious and costs within this pear shaped island are low. The land consists of rolling coastal plains and mountains rising only in the south-central area. Sri Lanka's climate is tropical, but monsoon season in the southwest lasts from June to October. Sri Lanka has a vibrant history, but its recent life has been under the shadow of an ethnically-based conflict in the north; Taprobane Island is located at the most southerly tip of Sri Lanka, well away from the conflict.
