Feature Island

Regional Information

Tonga is an archipelago in the South Pacific consisting of 169 islands, 36 of them inhabited, with some of those available for rent. Known as the friendly islands, Tonga's people are extremely proud, traditional, and well... friendly. Besides its people, one of Tonga's major tourist attractions is Humpback Whale mating season, occurring between July and October. Tonga is one of three locations in the world where you can snorkel with the gentle giants. When you're not whale watching, drink kava till you drop or snorkel in untouched coral gardens. If you're looking for an off island experience, attend a Sunday service; turnout is impressive. But beware, the King has decreed Sunday as a day of rest... no flights, no restaurants and no taxis. Some exceptions are made for tourists.
