White Island

FAMILY CAMP

White Island is a 9 acre island fully treed with a 3/4 mile hiking trail around the perimeter. There are Blue Heron, Mallards, Blue Tail Teals, Hawks, Beaver, Otter, Martin, Fox & Deer on occasion and lots of good fishing for Wall Eye,small and large mouth Bass. It is located on Pigeon Lake in the Kawarthas and is on the popular Trent River System. By boat one can access Georgian Bay and the Great Lakes as well as the St. Lawrence River and the Atlantic Ocean through the lock system.

White Island is located about 1/2 mile from the mainland where there is a deeded right of way and parking area 60’ X 60’ and private cedar dock for access to White Island . This area is called Elim Lodge which is a religious resort that has a dining room for everyone as well as a small snack bar and grocery store. Shopping is available in Bridge North which has two grocery stores, LCBO, Beer Store, Home Hardware etc. This is about 20 minutes away. Peterborough is about another 10 minutes from Bridge North. By water Bobcageon and Buckhorn are only 15 to 20 minutes for good shopping and restaurants. Gannon Narrows Marina is just 5 minutes from White Island on the other side of Jacobs Island. White Island will sleep 22 people.

White Island is about 2 hours North East of Toronto using Highways 401 to 115. GPS coordinates are Latitude: 44° 28’54.57” North: Longitude: 78° 28’16.65” West.

White Island was part of three islands deeded in 1876 to James Crowley a farmer from Ireland. There was an original family home built on White Island and subsequently added to and eventually covered in local stone. James Crowley would have farmed the larger Jacobs Island and may have used White Island as a get away.

Main House

It is assumed that the main house is over 100 years old as the property was deeded 135 years ago. There are 5 1/2 bedrooms, one 3 pc bathroom & linen cupboard on the second floor. There is a front sun room 9’ X 23’ with windows and screens as well as a rear sun room 12’ X 23’ that is screened. There is a main family room 17’ X 23’ with a stone fireplace, a den 12-1/2’ X 15’ with stone fireplace, a dining room 13’ X 17’ with a stone fireplace and kitchen 9’ X 14’. There is base board heating in most rooms. The main house has telephone and satellite service. Internet service is available and there is cell phone signal. The fire route number is 2002.

Guest Cottage

This is a two bed room guest cottage with kitchen opening into a large family room 12’ X 24’. The bedrooms are 10’ X 16’ and 10’ X 11’ and sleep 6 people. There is a 3 pc new bathroom. There is a large living room 12-1/2’ X 24’ with a non working stone fire place.

Bunkie

The bunkie is 9 X 15 and has one new queen bed and new hardwood floor as well as electricity and is 20 steps to the bath house.

Boat House

The boat house may be 75+ years old and has been refurbished. All cedar docks, decks, stairs are new. The upper boat house is done in T& G pine and sleeps 4 and is 15’ X 23’. This room opens to a upper deck with lake view.

Bath House

The bath house is divided in two with one half a new 3 pc bathroom and the other a new 2 pc bathroom and laundry room with new energy efficient Whirlpool washer and Samsung dryer.

Large Log Building

Log building has three rooms with the largest 26’ X 26’ and is used as the island museum and general recreation room and has ping pong and fooseball tables. There is a equipped work shop 11’ x 26’. There is a storage room 10’ X 11’ as well as a 12’ X 10’ loft.

Small Log Tool House

This is the original work shop and is now kept to house all the old tools found on the island.

Drive Shed

This building 24’ X 20’ is used to store the Kubota tractor, blade, lawn mower and related supplies.

Storage Building

This building 6’ X 12’ is used to store end of season items like badminton net, trampoline, archery equipment, croquette items etc.

Pump House

At the edge of the lake is a stone pump house 8’ X 12’ that houses the water tank to the submersible pump located in the lake as well as the infrared water system that gives pure drinkable water. It is also used to store lawn furniture etc.

Gardening Shed

This small shed is for keeping gardening tools and related items for the various gardens.

Electrical Power: The island is serviced by over head lines from Jacobs Island and has a new 200 Amp service. There are new circuit breaker panels in the main house, bath house, log building and guest cottage.

Main house: With the exception of some personal items everything will remain on the island. This will include all furniture, beds, bedding, flat screen TV and surround sound system, Satellite System. Kitchen to include stove, 2 fridges, dishwasher, microwave, all pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, utensils etc. Guest Cottage: Four beds, bedding, all furniture, TV’s, fridge, new stove.

Bunkie: Queen bed, bedding, all furniture Log Building: Work shop with 16’ work bench and many tools and miscellaneous supplies. Ping Pong table, Fooseball game and many island antique items. Tool Shed: Work bench and many old antique tools. Gardening Shed: Shovels, rakes, wheel barrows and many other gardening tools.

Bath House: New Whirlpool and Samsung high efficiency washer and dryer.

Boat House: Four year old Princecraft Ledgend 19’ Pontoon Boat fully covered with 50 HP Merc Engine as well as a 16 ft canoe are included in the sale. Many boating items included.

Upper lever 2 double beds and bedding included and other furniture.

Drive Shed: Four year old Kubota Diesel Tractor BX24 with front end loader, back hoe, scrapper blade and under mounted 54” cutting deck. Many related tractor supplies

Other Items: There are four picnic tables and two patio tables.
