Adjacent to Pender Island and within a five minute boat ride of Hope Bay, Fane Island has a natural harbour that includes a substantial breakwater, offering safe and easy anchorage. This protected harbour is covered by a water lot lease, which will permit the construction of permanent dock facilities. A beautiful beach fronts on to the harbour making for a very inviting landing.
Fane Island enjoys panoramic views of the neighbouring islands in addition to Mount Baker in Washington State. The island is somewhat protected from the prevailing south easterly winter winds that occur in Navy Channel, yet is ideally located for wind and solar power generation.
Fane Island is approximately 360 metres long and 60 metres wide. The northern tip of the island has historically been an active sea lion nesting area where the animals rest and feed for several weeks during the fall. The island is also locally known as Flower Island due to the abundance of spring wild flowers that naturally grow here.
'
There is a small cabin that was constructed by a previous owner. A new owner can either use the existing cabin, or build a new residence at the centre of the island where there is an excellent building site. The island has no services outside of a septic system and drilled well. The quality of both of these would need to be verified by a purchaser. A small navigational beacon is situated on the island's south west side. An easement to access this light for maintenance is in place for the benefit of the province.
