A lovely cottage compound on 4.26 acres sited on the outer edge of the Pointe au Baril Islands, this property features spectacular open water views to the west and some of the finest sunset views on the Bay.
Comprised of a three bedroom main cottage, a two bedroom guest cottage and two sleeping cabins it is an ideal property for multigenerational family use and for entertaining guests.
With 1818 feet of waterfront the deeply indented granite shoreline creates 2 natural harbours, each ideal private sites for the two principal structures.
The main cottage, a Normerica timber frame, was constructed in 1991 by highly regarded local builder Frank Penfold. Traditional in style, the 1196 sq. ft. three bedroom cottage features an open concept living kitchen dining area with vaulted ceilings, wood stove, stone fireplace, extensive glazing, and sliding glass doors opening onto a wrap around deck.
The contemporary, minimalist style 550 sq. ft. guest cottage, is split into 2 pods, positioned on a 78 foot deck; one pod housing two bedrooms and 3 piece bath, the other the living area. The living area features a stone fireplace and sliding glass doors across front and rear exposing glorious views and flooding the interior with light.
Also by Frank Penfold the guest cottage was constructed in 2006.
Two additional sleeping cabins are located in close proximity to the guest cabin. The original cabin is the last remaining vestige from a fishing camp once located on the property.
A distinctive sheet metal sculpture by noted Canadian artist Robert Murray presides over the entrance to the main harbour. Barrel in shape it makes reference to the original barrel lantern which first guided sailors into the Pointe au Baril harbour, and from whence the harbour was named.
Whipperwill North is a clear run via the Main Channel to the marinas in Pointe au Baril and is just 7 minutes by boat to the storied Ojibway Club and Community Centre.
