The island is owned by the Calderon Family in Surigao and it's just few miles from the surfing capital Siargao Island. Siargao Islands is known internationally because of its world-class waves called Cloud-9 - a surfing paradise for tourists.

Kabo Island offers a wide range of development possibilities. It is a virgin island that has naturally been designed for a beach resort, adventure island, or a farm. Furthermore, it has potential use for mining exploration since Surigao del Norte has the largest mining deposits in the country. Its neighbouring Nonoc Island is touted as one of the biggest nickel and cobalt deposits in Southeast Asia while other neighbouring islands were developed and used as beach resorts for tourists.

Island Features

- Located 4.8 kilometres (3 mi) eastward across the bay from Surigao City.

- 15-20 minutes from the mainland Surigao/port of Surigao

- The island is irregular in shape elongated along a northeast-southwest line. It rises to an elevation of 33.5 metres (110 feet).

- Surrounded by mangroves. On the shore side the mangroves form a brackish intermediate zone with no clear shoreline. On the Hintuan Passage side, the shore is generally clear cut.

- There is a reef, the Kabo Reef, about a half kilometer north of the island that extends to the northeast and east of the island.

- Load Island is immediately to the south

- The island has 6 areas with spring waters that provide water to the island.

- Ideal for breeding livestock, convertible to farm. Pineapples are also growing on the island.

- Potential to be developed as beach resort or adventure island

- Sparsely populated with coconut trees (source of oil, charcoal and copra in the region)

- High potential for mining exploration

- Titled lot
