Hästholmen, Sweden

The island of Hästholmen is your own piece of Swedish wilderness! Hästholmen is a 17,000-square-meter private island in the lake of Öjaren, part of an untouched network of small lakes and streams, stretching from the cultural area of Högbo to the south, up to the birthplace of prince Daniel of Sweden in Ockelbo to the north.

Hästholmen offers seclusion in the unique setting of the Swedish wilderness, with access to wide forest areas, fishing and much more nearby. On the mainland (5 minutes away by boat), enjoy walks through pine forests, and free mushroom and berry picking. The occasional moose, hare and deer will perhaps take a peek a you, and if you listen closely you may hear the mating calls of the forest's more shy inhibatants...

The smaller cottage has one room with a double bed, fireplace, a possible cooking space and a marvelous porch only meters from the waterfront.

The sauna is an original fire-heated sauna, used by fishermen in the late 1940´s, and it is situated on the waterfront. So when the sweat is breaking, you can easily slide into the water and watch the sunset.

The main cottage has electricity and the other cottage uses electricity from the main cottage when neeeded. Water is supplied from the lake by a pump system, for heated showers, dishwashing and so on. Drinking water is available from the mainland.

It is also possible drill for water on the island, to obtain a local drinking water supply. After a formal application procedure, local regulations will allow the building of a new cottage up to 120 sqm, and up to 25 sqm without application.
