Peace, tranquility, recreation, and an opportunity to own a unique ecological habitat all await you on Stewards Island.

This property is located on a National Wild & Scenic River, between the 7 islands that are part of the Allegheny Islands Wilderness Area that lie between Buckaloons and Tionesta, Pennsylvania.

These islands were designated by Congress in 1984 as a wilderness area as part of the wilderness preservation system. Stewards Island has been written about as if it were part of this system of public lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service, when it is, in fact, one of the largest privately owned islands on the upper reach of the Allegheny River.

This is a popular destination canoe/kayak area, with public camping allowed on the Wilderness Area islands. This picturesque island is also ideally located to the nearby community of Tidioute for all goods and services, and to the Allegheny National Forest and PA State Game Lands for all other forms of recreation.

The island is predominantly forested with mature trees throughout. There is an open area near the center of the property that used to be farmed by the Sellers. It is about 6 acres in size and is now beginning to revert back to brushy cover and tall grasses, but could be brought back to a condition suitable for crops or food plots.

The internal road system leads from one end of the island to the other and also to the camp site area along the Allegheny River. The camp site looks across the river to PA State Game Lands, so there are no “neighbors” to interrupt the serenity of this beautiful location.

The surrounding area including the Allegheny National Forest has some of the best deer, bear and turkey hunting around, as well as excellent fishing for rainbow, brook, and brown trout, smallmouth bass and others on the numerous streams in the region, including the Allegheny River. The duck hunting is good too! Bring your ATV's and ride the miles of trails on the Allegheny National Forest!
