The island of Dugi Otok is connected to the mainland by the ferry line Zadar - Brbinj (20 NM, the ferry trip takes an hour and 15 minutes). The lighthouse is about 20 km from Brbinj and can be reached by car via an asphalt road. Please check the ferry line schedule (www.jadrolinija.hr) as it changes depending on the season. It is recommended to arrive at the port of Zadar on time to ensure you can embark on a ferry during the high season.
Food & Beverage
There is an open market and many grocery stores near the port of Zadar. Keep in mind that prices on Dugi Otok are much higher than in Zadar, and it might be difficult to purchase some provisions during high season, such as fresh meat. It is advised to purchase provisions in Bozava or in the village of Sali on the other side of the island, where there is a better selection. Fish can be bought from the lighthouse keeper if arranged in advance, and you can also arrange the preparation of fish specialties with the lighthouse keeper and his wife.

The thick lighthouse walls, according to legend, contain thousands of egg-whites to make them more resistant to wind and sea. They protect you from the blazing sun in the summer months. There is an old church under a century-old pine tree in the large paved yard. During your stay at Veli Rat, you can visit Kornati National Park and Telascica Nature Park nearby. The starting point for trips to Kornati is the village of Sali on the other side of Dugi Otok.
