Lighthouse Greben

Lighthouse Greben is one of the most unique "hideouts" in the Mediterranean. Built by the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1872 to guide ships into the port of Gruž, the building has been completely renovated into a modern luxury villa while retaining its stone-walled soul. The island experience is characterized by a "captain’s bridge" feeling; you are close enough to Dubrovnik to see its lights, yet far enough to be completely alone in the Adriatic. The house is famous for its massive sun-drenched terrace that feels like the deck of a stone ship, perfect for watching the "floating hotels" (cruise ships) pass silently in the distance.

Accommodations & Design The 110-square-meter villa is a blend of 19th-century stonework and modern Croatian design.

Layout: The villa includes five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a separate living area with satellite TV.

The Primary Suite: Of the three double rooms, the largest (18 sqm) serves as the primary retreat, offering a massive stone-framed window with a direct view of the open sea and the sound of waves as a natural soundtrack.

Design: Authentic Mediterranean style featuring exposed stone walls, tiled floors, and minimalist furniture that emphasizes the views.

Amenities & Inclusions The Greben experience is rugged but fully supported:

Marine Activities: The island features a private dock with stone stairs for easy sea access. Just 20 meters from the lighthouse lies the wreck of the Italian merchant ship "Taranto" (sunk in 1943), a legendary site for recreational diving.

Gastronomy: While the villa is self-catering, a private chef or daily food delivery from the mainland can be arranged for a surcharge.

The Terrace: A vast stone plateau equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas, and a BBQ area—widely considered the best private sunset spot in Dubrovnik.

Connectivity: Despite its isolation, the lighthouse is equipped with Wi-Fi, solar energy, and a 24-hour on-call butler service managed from the mainland.

How Private Is This Island? Privacy at Lighthouse Greben is a fascinating paradox. While you are geographically only 300 meters from one of Europe’s busiest tourist hubs, the vertical cliffs and the lack of a public ferry make the island a secure, inaccessible fortress. No unauthorized person can land on the islet, ensuring that your terrace remains a private sanctuary. For high-profile guests, the lighthouse offers a "hiding in plain sight" advantage—you can enjoy the energy of Dubrovnik via a 5-minute boat ride and retreat instantly to a silent, secure rock where the only other residents are the seagulls.
