Ronay Island
The island of Ronay lies in the middle of the Outer Hebrides, between North and South Uist. It consists of 597.17 hectares of wild country which abounds with birds and wildlife from deer, otters, porpoises and seals to golden eagles, falcons, woodcock and grouse. The island of Ronay lies in the middle of the Outer Hebrides, between North and South Uist. It consists of 597.17 hectares of wild country which abounds with birds and wildlife from deer, otters, porpoises and seals to golden eagles, falcons, woodcock and grouse. The surrounding sea is full of mackerel, salmon, scallops and cockles. Sheep were removed in 2004 to allow the flora to return to its natural state and to increase the deer population. The island has 9 lochs providing some brown trout fishing.
There are ruins of numerous crofts, an old druid temple and a nunnery and the present house is situated on top of the site of the old inn. Nearby is Rossinish, where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed and on nearby Benbecula are ruins of what is said to be the oldest university in the United Kingdom.
The House
The house was built in 1964 by the present owner's parents and restored in 2005. It faces south looking over the bay which can be reached in 5minutes by boat from Kalin harbor on the mainland. The house is powered by solar panels and the heating by a charnwood stove. A generator is used to power the dishwasher and washing machine.
Living Spaces
While adults relax in front of the wood burning stove and gaze at the birds, dear seals and stars, children can play happily upstairs in the muralled playroom.
In the sitting room there is a writing desk, music system, tones of books, board games and an ornamental Pianola for guests to enjoy.
The playroom has 2 children's sofa beds and a boat bed.
The large kitchen has ample storage and surface space, a large fridge freezer and toaster. The new gas cooker has 8 hobs, 2 ovens and a grill.
Opening onto the kitchen is a dining area with a large table for 10 adults to merrily feats on fresh seafood or highland beef.
There is a washing machine and clothes line outside, back door bootroom with wc and a font door entrance way.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The Master Bedroom has a super king size bed overlooking the sea in front of a roaring fire with en suite bathroom.
With lots of space and an armchair by the fire this is a romantic hide away.
The 2nd bedroom has a fitted bookcase, window seat, armchair and super king bed.

- 3rd and 4th bedrooms with double beds
- 1 twin room
- A family bathroom with bath, shower
and wc
- Shower room
- Separate wc
