"St. Phillips Island is a perfect place for a modern day Robinson Crusoe."

St. Phillips is located north of Hilton Head Island between Charleston, the number one tourist destination in the United States, and the historic seaport of Savannah, Georgia. The Sea Islands along the southeastern coast are among the most beautiful properties in the world. St. Phillips Island located near the historic seaport of Beaufort, South Carolina is one of the most spectacular. It is a totally private island with a subtropical forest and long white beaches stretching along the Atlantic Ocean.

The island is accessed by a fifteen minute boat ride through pristine creeks, marsh and ocean, some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. From the docking facilities on St. Phillips one normally travels by SUV or cart down a scenic four-mile trail to the house, every ride a nature tour.

St. Phillips is teeming with all types of fish and wildlife. The area was colonized by the Spanish in 1520 and inhabited by native Americans before that. Oyster rings, artifacts and tabby walls remain on the island today. Little has changed here in centuries . The main residence and manager's house are the only dwellings. The place is totally private with long white sandy beaches stretching along the ocean. It is beautiful.

The rivers, marshes and tidal creeks in the neighborhood cover thousands of acres . Inshore fishing is excellent. The Gulf Stream with big game fish is about an hour out. Day trips by boat can be made to the cities of Charleston, Beaufort and Savannah.

Improvements include the main residence with a dock over the Atlantic, a manager's residence, boat and landing craft facilities, equipment shed, solar panels and water tower. There are 1070 acres of high land , 70 acres of ocean front beaches, 70 acres of ponds and lowland, 590 acres of interior marsh and 2880 acres of tidal marsh.

Ted Turner purchased St. Phillips Island in 1979. The Turner family and their friends have enjoyed sailing, fishing and entertaining here for thirty-five years.

St. Phillips is protected under a conservation easement with The Nature Conservancy. The island is self-sufficient with its own water and power supply. Although there is a comfortable owner's residence and manager's house, the value of St. Phillips is in the land, the natural maritime forest, the long white sandy beaches, the location and the total privacy. The agreement with The Nature Conservancy allows for the island to be maintained in its pristine condition and for the addition of ten more residences.

70 Acres - Sandy Beaches

TOTAL – 4,680 Acres

My family and I have owned St. Phillips Island along the South Carolina coast for many years now. While we have enjoyed the island and made many memories there, we, unfortunately, are not able to visit as much as we would like. Therefore, we have chosen to sell the property in an attempt to pass on St. Phillips Island to another family who will enjoy this natural oasis as much as we did.
