Sitting at the center of the beautiful Exuma chain made up of little, scattered islands, deserted beaches and sandbars is Fowl Cay Resort. A vacation on Fowl Cay is truly like no other... and there are barely words to describe it–other than this is a getaway you need to experience for yourself. The best way to describe Fowl Cay Resort is that it is a casual vacation experience that combines the freedom of renting your very own island villa (or the entire island) with all the quality amenities of a full-service resort.

The Villas at Fowl Cay Resort

Dotted around the Eastern perimeter of Fowl Cay are 6 gorgeous villas for you to use as your home away from home in the Exumas. Our one, two and three-bedroom villas all have fully equipped kitchens that are stocked with breakfast, lunch and snack items before your arrival (all included in the price). All have ocean views and are lined with French or sliding glass doors that open to beautiful patios overlooking the breathtaking water below.

In addition to your fully stocked kitchen, also included with each villa is your own personal motor boat (gas too!), a golf cart and use of all the equipment on the island. The boat allows you get out and explore the beautiful central Exumas while Fowl Cay provides the ultimate home base to return to at the end of the day. You make your own breakfast, our chef makes you a picnic lunch to take on your boat, your villa host packs a cooler and brings your fresh clean towels and you're are off for a day on the water! When you return, jump in your luxurious shower and head up to the Hill House for cocktail hour and a gourmet dinner of local seafood and delicious desserts. It's all there for you to enjoy and we are there to make it as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

Fowl Cay offers the best of both worlds when it comes to dining. You can prepare your own villa meals or simply allow us to wait on you hand and foot. Every day can be a different combination that suits you best.

Prepare a late breakfast on your villa patio, take one of our picnic lunches to a secluded beach or feast on a four-course fish supper at the Hill House restaurant. Whatever way you choose, dining will be easy and delicious!

And don't forget, all food and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) both in your villa and at the Hill House restaurant are included.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Fowl Cay is that island life may be too quiet for some. A remote piece of paradise surrounded by nothing but miles of clear water and sandy beaches- sounds idyllic, but what is there to do apart from soaking up the rays? Plenty!

Each villa at Fowl Cay comes complete with its own motor boat giving you the freedom to explore paradise at your own pace. Fowl Cay is the perfect hub for daily mini adventures. Make the most of your own personal motor boat to picnic on secluded island beaches; explore coral reefs bursting with marine life, or feed wild nurse sharks and sting rays. Whether you choose to do everything, or nothing at all – you'll be in awe of the entertaining nature of the Exumas and the unpretentious charm of Fowl Cay.

Things to do on your boat

Fishing-Whether it's Bone Fishing or deep sea fishing for Mahi-mahi and Tuna, or trawling through the cuts for Snapper and Grouper, fishing in the Exumas is world renowned.

Deserted Beaches-There are 365 cays and islands in the Exumas - a different one for each day of the week. While staying with us you could picnic on a different deserted beach for every day.

Exploring-Take your boat to Compass Cay Marina and feed the sharks; enjoy a burger on the dock and play checkers with the locals; or head down to Guana Cay to feed the iguanas.

Snorkeling-Nearby Thunderball Cave and Exuma Land and Sea Park are teaming with Sergeant Major, Parrot and Angel Fish. We will direct you to the top spots and supply your snorkeling equipment.

Visit neighboring populated cays, Staniel or Black Point and stroll around meeting the locals. Enjoy an authentic meal at one of the local restaurants or pass by one of the island art galleries and pick up some paintings or woven items from local artists.

There are also some great lunch spots at the local marinas: Sampson Cay, Compass Cay or Staniel Cay Yacht Club. Play a game of Bimini Ring under the giant Sea Grape tree at Sampson Cay while you wait for your Lobster Wrap to be prepared.

Discover one of the two old sunken planes in the vicinity and snorkel for the treasure that went down with the plane too!

Waterski, Tube, Knee Board or Wake Board right off our dock on the flat waters in Big Major Harbor.

Cruise over to Staniel Cay Divers ( - 242-225-9668) and head out with the local Dive master for a day of Scuba Diving (additional fee applies).

Save your kitchen scraps from your villa (or ask the chef for some) and head over to Pig beach on Big Major Spot and feed the friendly swimming pigs that live there year round.

Head North to the Exuma Land and Sea Park headquarters where you can hike around the island and check out the whale skeleton on the beach.

Head to Farmers Cay, a local community about 45 minutes to the south. On the way try to find the cave by Oven Rock and leave time to find the spectacular and famous sand bar off Musha Cay – heaven on earth.

Things to do on the Cay

Three Private Beaches-Fowl Cay has three spectacular beaches each with its own personality – for simply enjoying a day on the island.

Set Sail-On South Beach we have single and double kayaks for you to use at your leisure. Paddle over the shallows looking for starfish and sting rays or for a workout circumnavigate the Cay.

Tennis-Fowl Cay boasts the only tennis court in the Central Exumas - the perfect early morning or late afternoon activity. We have rackets and balls so leave yours at home.

Pool Lounging-Head up to Hill House for a pool day and pull up one of the double chaise lounge day beds. The Bar is always open so if you need any refreshments just help yourself and enjoy the views over Big Major Harbor.

Beach games-A great happy hour activity. Head to South Beach for a bocce tournament with your friends or challenge your island mates to a horseshoe competition.

DVD or Book collection-If you have had too much sun and want to take a break, curl up in your den with one of the islands many DVDs or browse your villa's bookshelves.

Below is a list of what is included when you rent a house on Fowl Cay.

Perhaps the biggest and best amenity at Fowl Cay is the 17 or 18 ft power boat with unlimited gas which is included with your villa. Our staff will give you a thorough boat orientation to ensure you are comfortable driving the boat and we also provide you with charts and compasses.

Food and Drinks

Everything you eat and drink while on the Cay is included in the price. All the food and beverages stocked in your villa in addition to all the food and drink served to you at the Hill House for dinner is included*. Your cupboards and fridge will be restocked at no extra charge.

*House wines included and premium wines are available at an additional cost.

Golf Cart

You will be provided with your own golf cart to navigate on land. Feel Free to walk when you would like but let's face it you are on vacation! Hop in your commuter cart for the week and zip around at your leisure.

Hill House

The Hill House not only provides the backdrop to our delicious nightly meals but also provides a number of different amenities during the day. After a day on the boat rinse off in our fresh water pool with double teak chaise lounges and umbrellas on the sun deck. Or wake up early for a morning workout in our exercise room. At cocktail hour enjoy the various games in the pub – throw some darts, shoot some pool, play backgammon or challenge someone to the Bimini ring game as the sun sets on the back patio.

Our fresh water pool at the Hill House provides the perfect end to a day on the boat. Catch the last rays of the day after you rinse off in the pool. Head into the bar and mix up a drink behind the bar or grab a beer out of the fridge and enjoy your drink while sitting by the pool. The bar is always open and it's always our round! If you want your own private pool, consider renting the Birdcage villa which has its own private splash pool on its patio.

Fowl Cay has 3 of its own gorgeous beaches. The North Beach provides a peaceful location to sink your beach chair in the sand. The South Beach is the perfect spot to enjoy some of the on-island activities anything from a game of Bocce to a sail in one of our Zuma boats to paddling in one of our Kayaks for a workout or just spend all day lazing under the tiki huts enjoying the view. In addition to our beaches the Exumas are filled with deserted islands with nothing but white sand beaches to explore. And with your own boat you can choose a different one everyday to picnic on.

Tennis, Bocce and Horseshoe Courts

Bring your tennis game but leave your big racquets at home. Fowl Cay has the only tennis court in this part of the Exumas. In the middle of the island it's a perfect activity for when you need a break from the beach. When you are finished with your tennis game, head down to South Beach for a popular happy hour activity - a game of bocce ball on our waterside court. A great sport for all ages and skill levels and if you are in the mood, throw a few horse shoes in our sand horseshoe pit.

Kayaks and other Beach Toys

The list of equipment on the island that you will have access to is endless and all of it is included. From kayaks to sailboats and paddle boards, we have it all for you here so you can pack less and enjoy more.

We also have another closet full of water sports gear including:

Knee boards
Wake boards

Fishing Gear

Whether you want to trawl in your boat through the many ocean cuts looking for grouper or whether you want to hire a guide (additional fee applies) to go out into the deeper water for Tuna or Mahi-Mahi, we have plenty of rods, reels, line, weights, lures etc to help you catch your dinner which our chef can then cook up for however you like!

We provide daily housekeeping at each villa so leave the dishes and beds to us and enjoy your day.

Internet & Fax

This is last for a reason – if you must work then do not fear, you will have wireless internet at each house and also access to a fax in our office. But don't let your colleagues in on the secret (just tell them you are incommunicado for the week - that usually works wonders for relaxing and recharging).

Getting to the Island

There are many options for travel to our Exumas private resort. Scheduled flights, as well as private chartered flights are available direct from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (1h 30 minutes) or Nassau, Bahamas (40 minutes) into Staniel Cay Airstrip. Once on the ground at Staniel Cay airstrip (a mere 1.25 miles from Fowl Cay), a member of our resort team will meet you personally, take care of your luggage and bring you to the dock, where you will be transferred by a breathtaking 7 minute boat ride to the Cay.

Airport transfers for guests arriving from Staniel Cay airstrip to Fowl Cay Resort are complimentary. Exumas travel arrangements can also be made via private boat. Private planes may land at Staniel Cay's 3,030 ft. paved airstrip. You may also charter a sea plane to land right on the beach of our private resort.

Please note that check in time is 3 p.m. and check out time is 10 a.m. - Please plan your inbound and outbound charter flights accordingly

We are a VERY small island with a lean, hardworking and dedicated staff. Preparing our private resort for your arrival and those that follow is a tremendous challenge with limited time, so our check in/out times are VERY firm. Thank you for your understanding.
